OnePlus ventures into the realm of artificial intelligence with the introduction of its AI Eraser tool for photo editing.

In 2023, there was a notable emphasis on AI, which continues into 2024. OnePlus has introduced a new feature called AI Eraser, aimed at removing unwanted elements from photos.

This feature, similar to existing tools from other companies, has been showcased through comparisons, demonstrating its ability to remove distractions such as random arms from images.

AI Eraser will be rolled out this month to several OnePlus models including the OnePlus 12, OnePlus 12R, OnePlus Open, OnePlus 11, and OnePlus Nord CE4, available globally. However, European users will have to wait until later in Q2 2024, before the end of June, to access the feature.

Details about the delivery method of AI Eraser, whether through an OxygenOS update or an update to the OnePlus Photo Gallery app, are currently unclear. Additionally, it’s uncertain whether the AI processing will occur on-device or if an internet connection will be required.

OnePlus emphasizes that AI Eraser is the result of significant research and development investment, with a focus on ensuring the accuracy and reliability of AI-generated content. The proprietary model powering the feature has been trained on a vast dataset, enabling it to understand complex scenes and intelligently replace unwanted objects with contextually appropriate elements. This capability aims to enhance the appeal of photos, providing users with the flexibility to create high-quality edits anytime, anywhere.
