AI chatbots excel at persuading individuals to align with one side of a debate, surpassing human counterparts even when participants are aware they’re interacting with a machine.
Manoel Horta Ribeiro and his team at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne conducted an experiment involving 820 volunteers. Each participant completed a short questionnaire, providing personal details. The volunteers were divided into four groups: two engaged in debates with humans, while the remaining two interacted with chatbots.
