Asus is gearing up to launch the new ROG Ally X handheld console on June 2nd. This device marks an upgrade from the original ROG Ally, promising enhanced battery life and likely featuring a new USB-C port. Recent leaks from renowned tipster @MysteryLupin suggest that Asus may also unveil a variant with a spacious 1 TB storage capacity.
However, the added memory for gaming comes at a premium, with insiders hinting that the 1TB Asus ROG Ally X could retail for $799 – more than 10% higher than the current top-tier ROG Ally model equipped with the Ryzen Z1 Extreme chip.

Anticipated specifications include 16 GB RAM and a more conventional M.2 2280 memory slot for simplified upgrade options. Despite these enhancements, the Ally X is expected to retain its predecessor’s 7-inch LCD screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 1080p resolution. Furthermore, the Ally X will debut in Black, diverging from the original Ally’s sole availability in White.
The initial Asus ROG Ally, featuring the Ryzen Z1 chip, 12 GB RAM, and 256 GB storage, debuted in 2023 at a price point of $600. It’s speculated to continue as a more budget-friendly alternative alongside the upcoming Ally X. All specifics will be unveiled in three weeks’ time when the console officially hits the shelves.
