Google’s head of privacy to depart

Keith Enright, Google’s chief privacy officer, is set to depart from the company this autumn after a tenure of 13 years, a spokesperson for the Alphabet-owned firm announced on Tuesday.

“We continually adapt our legal, regulatory, and compliance endeavors to fulfill new obligations and expectations. Our recent adjustments will expand the workforce dedicated to regulatory compliance throughout the organization,” the spokesperson remarked.

Enright assumed the role of Google’s privacy chief in September 2018 amidst heightened government scrutiny concerning privacy matters.

His exit is part of a broader reorganization within the privacy teams, with the company aiming to decentralize privacy policy responsibilities to individual product management teams, as per company sources.

“After more than 13 years at Google, I’m ready for a change and will be transitioning this autumn, leveraging all that I’ve gleaned to embark on a new journey,” Enright stated in a LinkedIn post.
