Japan’s SoftBank Group (9984.T) plans to expand its power generation business, focusing mainly on the United States, to support generative artificial intelligence projects globally, founder Masayoshi Son announced on Thursday. SB Energy, backed by SoftBank Group, develops and operates renewable electricity businesses across the U.S.
Son also mentioned that the group will seek new investment opportunities, primarily outside of Japan. He made these remarks at the annual shareholder meeting of the group’s telecom arm, SoftBank Corp (9434.T), where he serves as a board member.0
