Tencent’s ‘Dungeon & Fighter’ game removed from certain Android app stores

Tencent (0700.HK) announced that starting Thursday, it will remove its popular mobile game “Dungeon & Fighter” (DnF Mobile) from select Android app stores due to expired contracts. This move reflects ongoing tensions between game developers and distributors in China, particularly over revenue-sharing issues as mobile games gain traction in the broader gaming market.

Revenue-sharing splits, typically around 50%, have been a major point of contention in partnerships between developers and Android app stores. Tencent, China’s leading game developer by revenue, did not specify which app stores would be impacted. However, the local media outlet 21st Century Business Herald reported that the affected stores include those operated by Huawei (HWT.UL), Oppo, and Vivo.

This situation mirrors a previous incident in 2021 when Huawei removed several Tencent mobile games from its app store over a revenue-sharing disagreement.
