CrowdStrike reports more than 97% of Windows sensors are now operational

CrowdStrike’s CEO George Kurtz announced on Thursday that more than 97% of Windows sensors are back online, nearly a week after a software update by the cybersecurity firm caused a global outage. The company’s Falcon platform sensor, a security agent installed on devices like laptops and desktops, protects them from threats.

The outage occurred due to a fault in the advanced platform, which caused computers running Microsoft’s Windows operating system to crash and display the blue screen of death. Microsoft reported on Saturday that about 8.5 million Windows devices were affected, leading to grounded flights, disrupted broadcasts, and loss of access to services such as healthcare and banking.

Kurtz mentioned in a LinkedIn post that the recovery efforts were improved through the development of automatic recovery techniques and the mobilization of all available resources to support customers.
