The Poco F5 was a hit last year, giving the new Poco F6 big shoes to fill. Its popularity even overshadowed the Poco F5 Pro, meaning the new Poco F6 Pro has a lot to prove as well. These phones are now available in some regions starting today, with the F6 launching in India on the 29th. Are you planning to buy an F6, and if so, which model?
Let’s begin with the standard Poco F6. It features a flagship-grade Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, replacing the 7+ Gen 2 from the F5. The upgraded GPU and higher screen resolution of 1,220 x 2,712px (up from FHD+) are notable improvements. The F6 also boasts faster storage, making it a solid performance upgrade.
Additionally, the Poco F6 has an IP64 dust and water resistance rating, which was absent in the F5 series, and the display is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus (an upgrade from GG5). The 5,000mAh battery now supports 90W charging, up from 67W.
As for the Poco F6 Pro, it maintains a QHD+ resolution and features last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which should still outperform the new 8s Gen 3 in the standard model. The main camera has a larger 50MP sensor, though there is still no telephoto lens, and the ultra-wide camera has only an 8MP sensor.
Charging is somewhat of a side-grade – the 5,000mAh battery supports super-fast 120W charging (10% in 19 minutes) but has lost the 30W wireless charging and some capacity compared to the F5 Pro (5,160mAh). However, the IP64 rating and Gorilla Glass Victus are nice upgrades over the F5 Pro.
