Twitch, owned by Amazon, revamps its safety advisory council

Amazon’s streaming service Twitch is revamping its safety advisory council by adding members from its community of “Twitch Ambassadors,” the company announced on Thursday.

Twitch Ambassadors are users who actively contribute to the Twitch community in a positive way, according to the platform’s website. Previously, the council comprised online safety experts and advocates against cyberbullying.

Introduced in 2020, the council aims to provide guidance to enhance safety measures on the site.

“We have introduced new council members to bring in fresh, diverse perspectives after collaborating with many of the same core members for several years,” stated a company spokesperson.

CNBC was the first to report on this update. Contracts of previous council members will be terminated, according to a source familiar with the situation.
