Qi2 wireless charging is set to become mainstream

CES 2024 may have showcased its usual array of wacky innovations like wearable ovens, but it also marked the introduction of practical new tech standards, including Qi2 wireless chargers. This development is particularly beneficial for smartphones, especially Android devices, as Qi2 supports a minimum of 15W charging, matching Apple’s MagSafe.

Currently, the iPhone 15 series is the only smartphone lineup with Qi2 support, but new models are expected to launch later this year. Thanks to CES 2024, there will be plenty of wireless chargers available when they do.

Among the various Qi2 products displayed at the event, Satechi’s folding 3-in-1 model stood out. It will be available for purchase at $130 (approximately £105 / AU$195) when it hits the market in Q2 (between March and May).
