E-Ink isn’t a novel technology, nor is the concept of using it on laptop covers, but CES 2024 showcased its evolution into a mainstream possibility. The Lenovo ThinkBook 13x Gen 4 SPE concept laptop exemplified this shift, employing E-Ink Prism technology to allow users to add not just images but animations to the cover. Suddenly, stickers seem outdated.
Similarly, Chinese accessories company Infinix demonstrated using the same technology for smartphone covers that can change colors and maintain them without using additional power. While both Lenovo and Infinix’s implementations remain in the concept phase, we anticipate more refined versions to emerge this year.
