Samsung launched the budget-friendly Galaxy A05 in September last year, followed by its release in October. Now, the company is diligently working on its successor, the Galaxy A06. A prototype of the A06 recently appeared in the Geekbench database, revealing details that might disappoint those expecting significant upgrades from its predecessor.
The Galaxy A06 is set to be powered by the same MediaTek Helio G85 SoC found in the A05. The benchmark results from Geekbench 4.2.0 showed a single-core score of 1,644 and a multi-core score of 5,326. It’s worth noting that these scores are from Geekbench 4.2.0, not the newer versions we typically see.

The tested A06 model featured 6GB of RAM, similar to one version of the A05, and was running Android 14 out of the box.
Additionally, the Galaxy A06 has received certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance, confirming support for dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11a/b/g/n/ac). Further specifications for the A06 have not been disclosed at this time.
As a refresher, the Galaxy A05 came equipped with a 6.7-inch 720×1600 LCD touchscreen, options for 4GB or 6GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB of expandable storage, a 50 MP main camera paired with a 2 MP depth sensor, an 8 MP front-facing camera, and a 5,000 mAh battery supporting 25W wired charging. It remains to be seen if the Galaxy A06 will bring any enhancements despite retaining the same SoC.
