IMF: Bitcoin Key to El Salvador Talks

Discussions between the International Monetary Fund and El Salvador focus on improving reforms, with addressing risks related to Bitcoin remaining a significant part of the dialogue, according to the IMF on Thursday.

IMF spokesperson Julie Kozack stated in a scheduled press conference, “We have advised narrowing the scope of the Bitcoin law, enhancing the regulatory framework and oversight of the Bitcoin ecosystem, and limiting public sector exposure to Bitcoin.”

She also mentioned that El Salvador’s 2025 budget proposal is a positive move to strengthen public finances, emphasizing the need for effective implementation.
