The United States and Mexico are teaming up to explore semiconductor production opportunities as part of the U.S. CHIPS Act. This law, enacted in 2022, allocates $500 million to enhance the semiconductor supply chain by collaborating with allies. The State Department emphasized the critical role of semiconductors in various industries, including automotive and healthcare.
This partnership will commence with an assessment of Mexico’s semiconductor industry, regulations, and workforce needs. Despite the State Department’s announcement, Mexico’s economic ministry has not yet provided any comment on the matter.
